in the immigration reform either. no president obama stirred up a little dust up here with what he said about football. he gave an interview the other day to the new republic. the new republic by the way is under new ownership, ironed franklin forr back and they got a one on one interview with president obama, actually, it was two on one, two of their guys with president obama in the oval office and among other things, they asked him about the nfl and the violence in professional football and college football, and was he concerned about that. you know, the president is a huge sports fan. he is a huge football fan and he told the new republic, quote, i am a big football fan, but i have to tell you, if i had a son, i would have to think long and hard before i let him plays football. he continued, and i think those of us who love the sport are going to have to wrestle with the fact that it will probably change gradually to reduce some of the violence. well, if i had a son, he said i would have to think long and hard about letting him play football. that stirred up

think the plans are finally aligned to do something about immigration reform. president obama taking the lead of course, talking about it in his inaugural address. you know he is going to talk about it in the state of the union as well. and then the gang of eight on the -- in the united states senate, four republicans and four democrats coming forward with their outline of the legislation that they are going to introduce, which including all of the essential elements includes doing something about clamping down -- i'm sorry -- clamping down on employer who hire undocumented workers, more security at the border, and offers a path to citizenship for the 11 million people who have put down roots in this community. they are here. they have been here a long time. right now they are law-abiding citizens. they are paying taxes. they have got their families. they have got their homes. kids in school. kids in the military. they have got their jobs. they have got everything accept being american citizens. yesterday at a little forum here in washington, d.c. sponsored by "

's gun control or climate change tom harkin said without filibuster reform, president obama might just as well take the next four years off, go on vacation, this was the time at the beginning of each session they can change the rules. all they need are 51 votes. democrats have 55 votes. they have all of the votes they need to change the filibuster to get rid of it or to change it. several senators, jeff merkley from or gone but also tom eudall. we talked to all of them about the need to reform the filibuster. tom harkin from iowa has been at it a long time tammy baldwin, newly elected from wisconsin joined the crew. tom dashel former majority leader yesterday here on our program told us that at least the very least they had to do was make it for real so if the senator, he or she had said they were going to filibuster they had to come to the floor and talk, talk, talk talk talk as long as they can, give it the old strom thurman or mr. smith goes to washington routine. en stead, it was a announced yesterday, harry reid and mitch mccombed came to an agreeme
